What is General Liability Insurance?

After dedicating so much time and effort to your business, the last thing you need is for a disgruntled employee or client to initiate a lawsuit.

Because this is a highly litigious society, it’s essential for every business to have a good general liability policy in place. Along with property protection and workers compensation, general liability can help your business stay safe and financially stable. A general liability policy through TCS Insurance Brokers will be there to defend you when a small mishap turns into a big lawsuit.

General liability insurance protects your business when someone decides to file a lawsuit against it due to injury or property damage.

We will work with you to determine a liability policy that will fit the unique needs of your business. And as an independent insurance agency, TCS Insurance will research the top carriers for California general liability insurance to find the most comprehensive coverage for your business, at the best rate available.

What is general liability insurance?

TCS Insurance offers general liability insurance, also called commercial general liability insurance, which protects your business from third party claims for bodily injury, associated medical costs and damage to someone else’s property.
You should consider general liability insurance if you or your employees:

  • Visit a client’s place of work, or clients visit yours.
  • Have access to a client’s equipment. (i.e., a client’s server).
  • Write or speak about a client’s business.
  • Use third-party locations for any business related activities.
  • Are required to have general liability insurance before entering into a contract.

For example, while visiting a client’s office, the client trips over your briefcase and gets injured – your business may be liable. Your fault or not, our general liability insurance coverage will protect your business against covered claims by paying defense costs and any damages up to your policy limit.

We Know Business Insurance!

business-insurance

We know your business means everything to you. It is also important to us. As an owner of a growing business, you face tough challenges every day and TCS Insurance wants to give you one less thing to worry about – California business insurance. We’ll make sure your business is adequately protected today and well into the future.

No matter what kind of business you operate in California, TCS Insurance Brokers will make sure you can protect yourself and your employees from almost every conceivable risk that your organization may face. Property damage, lawsuits, theft, and death are just a few things that can result in serious financial loss if you are not insured.

Let the California business insurance experts at TCS Insurance Brokers work with you to see that your business is adequately covered based on risks inherent to your industry, whether you need small business insurance or large business insurance.

What Types of California Business Insurance options are there?

Business Owners Policy (BOP)

BOPs are package policies which are created for businesses that generally face the same kind and degree of risk. While we can offer you bundled insurance package at an affordable premium, we can also customize your plan to meet other unique risks your business may face.

General Liability

California general liability insurance includes a wide variety of liability exposures. General liability covers accidents that occur on your property, products sold by your business, operations completed by your business, and contractual liability.

Product Liability

If your company manufactures, wholesales, distributes, or retails a product, you may be liable for its safety. Product liability insurance protects your business against financial loss as result of a defective product that causes injury or bodily harm.

Property & Casualty

This type of insurance protects your business from financial loss due to physical damage. Along with your business real estate, your office equipment, furniture, computers, and business documents are also covered.

Information Risk Coverage

If your business stores sensitive data on internal or external networks, generates revenue online, or uses an online network to control production, manufacturing, inventory or a supply chain, then you are at risk for financial loss. Data theft, viruses, network interruption, and security breaches are among a few of the things that are covered with information risk insurance.

Professional Liability/ Errors & Omissions (E&O)

This insurance protects your company from claims if your client holds you responsible for errors, or the failure of your work to perform as promised in your contract.

Directors & Officers (D&O)

Depending on the nature of your business, you may want insurance that protects directors and officers from liability claims arising out of alleged errors in judgment, breaches of duty, and wrongful acts related to their professional responsibilities. These employment-related claims may involve illegal conduct or mismanagement of funds.

Business Travel Insurance

If your employees are required to travel for business, you can get limited contracts covering travel-related risks. Travel insurance can cover accidents, illnesses, injuries, canceled flights, lost luggage and inclement weather.

Business Interruption

If your company was forced to shut down for an indefinite period of time, how much money would you lose? Business Interruption protects business owners against losses resulting from a temporary shutdown because of a fire or other covered event. The commercial insurance provides reimbursement for lost gross or net profits and necessary continuing expenses.

Key Person Life

What if the success of your business relied on a few very important people? Key Person Life Insurance is designed to protect a business against the loss of income resulting from the disability or death of an employee in a significant position.

Home-Based Business Insurance in California

Many people do not realize that homeowner’s insurance policies do not generally cover home-based business losses. If you run a business from your home, you may need to add riders to your homeowners’ policy to cover normal business risks such as property damage in addition to other policies that cover general and professional liability.

California Business/Commercial Insurance TCS Insurance Brokers Provides

In addition to business insurance listed, you can rely on TCS Insurance for other insurance related to your business:

Commercial Auto Insurance

Commercial Vehicle Insurance
If you operate vehicles to transport products or people, require high liability insurance, haul equipment, or have other similar special needs, then a commercial auto insurance policy is probably best for you.

General Liability Insurance

After dedicating so much time and effort to your business, the last thing you need is for a disgruntled employee or client to initiate a lawsuit. Because this is a highly litigious society, it’s essential for every business to have a good general liability policy in place.

Surety & Contract Bonds

Most bond providers have high credit requirements and turn away those who don’t qualify. TCS Insurance specializes in helping California contractors save money on their license bonds regardless of credit, as well as performance bonds, bid bonds, janitorial bonds & much more.

Contractor’s Insurance

If you are a contractor in California, you know there are events in both life and business you can’t prevent. These events can cause damage to your work site or workers – no amount of preparation could have stopped them.

Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella insurance is extra liability insurance that you purchase in addition to your regular insurance policies, be they for personal or business. Sits “on top of” your other insurance policies like an umbrella, to provide added financial protection in the event that other policies cannot cover the loss.

Workers Compensation Insurance

Despite your company’s best efforts to create a safe work environment, accidents can happen. Partnering with the right insurance agency can ensure that your injured employees return to work safely and as soon as medically appropriate. With our expertise and extensive experience in the field we are able to offer you a connection to the top Workers Comp. carriers in California.

How Hurricane Harvey Losses Affect Us

Numbers are starting to be posted by a few Carriers affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas….

It appears that more than 500,000 vehicles will be presented as total losses from Harvey.  Some reports forecast that the carriers with the most Personal Auto exposure are State Farm, Farmers, Allstate and Progressive.  State Farm has the largest market share in Texas and there are reports indicating that they will lose some 5 Billion (that with a B) dollars in their Personal Auto portfolio from Harvey alone.   5 Billion dollars in one day, ouch!

S&P Global reports that Allstate has estimated a total of $576 Million in catastrophe losses (excluding Flood) through September 10th related to Hurricane Harvey.  That number is expected to rise considerably. It also reports Progressive has announced a Net loss of $16.8 Million in August.  (Progressive is not listing its estimated losses in total through September yet)

There is no doubt that these numbers will be compounded once Hurricane Irma numbers start to roll in.

Unfortunately, as in years past, the losses taken by carriers in the gulf will no doubt affect our local markets here in California.

California is known to be fertile grounds for insurance carriers (high premiums, lots of people).  The frustrating part about all this is that national carriers almost always look to recoup losses on the backs of CA consumers when these catastrophic losses occur in other states. Equally frustrating is the CA Department Of Insurance who allows the carriers to adjust rates in our state to help Insurers recover in places like Texas and Florida. The impact of these catastrophic events will be felt in both Commercial and Personal Lines.

Now here’s a plug for our agency:

Why work with an Insurance Brokerage like ourselves? – We are advocates for each one of our clients. We hold the control over the insurance carriers. Therefore, forcing carriers to offer the best claims service and better rates for well deserving consumers. – Call today and speak with one of our knowledgeable brokers. Business Insurance – Smart Protection for Small Businesses

Small Business Insurance: Smart Protection You’ve invested a lot of time, money and sweat in your small business, so it makes sense to protect that investment with smart insurance coverage. In fact, business insurance should be an essential part of your business operations — a necessity for safeguarding your business assets, your employees and your livelihood.

What coverage do you need?

Business insurance policies come in many forms to cover many needs. Several factors determine what coverage you’ll need and the rate you’ll pay, such as the nature of your business, whether you operate from a commercial building or home office and whether you have employees. Below are the most common types of coverage that small businesses need:

  • Property insurance: Property insurance covers your buildings, equipment, inventory and other contents.
  • Liability insurance: If you have customers visiting your business, general liability insurance protects your business in the event a customer is injured on your property. It also pays for your legal defense if you face a lawsuit because your product or service causes harm. If you provide services that could cause others’ financial loss, you also may need professional liability coverage.
  • Commercial auto: Commercial auto insurance claims can be devastating for businesses that aren’t properly insured. If you or your employees drive company-owned or personally owned vehicles in the course and scope of business, you need commercial auto coverage.
  • Workers’ compensation: If you have employees, you need workers’ compensation insurance to cover medical expenses and lost wages arising from illnesses or injuries triggered by their work.
  • Business interruption: If your business is unable to operate because of a covered property loss, business interruption insurance covers lost income during the downtime.
  • Disability insurance: If you own a small business, a disabling injury or illness could be financially devastating. Several income protection options are available for business owners, including business overhead expense insurance, key person insurance and bank loan disability insurance.
  • Health: Health insurance is important for you and your employees. And with the federal Affordable Care Act now on the books, it’s important to understand your responsibilities as an individual and as an employer.
  • Life: If you have family members who rely on your income, life insurance will provide the money they need if you meet an untimely death. In addition, many lenders require you to have life insurance before giving you a business loan.

Don’t leave your business unprotected. When you’re ready to shop for small business insurance, get instant access to top business insurance companies and the most competitive options with us. It’s fast, easy, convenient.

Mobile Home Insurance from Tracy to Merced CA

Mobile Home Insurance

Our programs accept all factory-built home, whether it is a single-wide, double-wide, triple-wide, or 2-story modular. Unlike others, we place no age restriction on your home and actually offer you valuable options.

Insuring manufactured homes and mobile homes has been at the heart of our agency’s business model for nearly 11 years.

Manufactured housing is much more varied than years past, but its insurance requirements are still different than a “site-built” home. Our programs are an excellent fit for both the latest modular designs as well as the classic mobile home.

Coverage highlights

Comprehensive protection – Your policy covers any cause of loss (fire, lighting, wind, hail, explosion, burst water pipes, and so on) unless that cause is specifically excluded in the policy documents.

Stated value loss settlement – For a total loss, we settle at the state value of your home which is listed on your policy. There is no depreciation deduction. For a partial loss, we pay the actual cash value of the loss, but you can upgrade that to a replacement cost valuation.

Liability – You are covered if an injury occurs to someone while on the premises, or if you accidentally injure someone or damage property away from your home.

Personal property – Your personal belongings are protected on an actual cash value basis if the home suffers a covered loss.

Is your manufactured home not a full-time residence?

Manufactured housing is flexible and so is our program. We have programs for other uses and occupancies.

Rental – The rental program accepts residential and light commercial-use units.

Seasonal – Our seasonal program covers mobile homes that are used just part of the year.

Vacant – A vacant mobile home can be insured through our Vacant program.

Tenant – Renters insurance (HO-4) is an option for renters of a mobile home.

MAPFRE becomes an insurer approved to offer gap coverage for rideshare!Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance News

The Department of Insurance has formally approved a filing by San Ramon-based MAPFRE to begin offering gap coverage for rideshare drivers. As a result, the Bay Area’s largest private passenger and commercial automobile insurer says it begin offering gap coverage starting May 1, 2017.

“As a market leader in auto insurance, MAPFRE is committed to providing our customers with innovative products that fit their full lives and evolving needs,” said John Kelly, Senior Vice President, Northeast Region.

“With the growth of ridesharing activity across the state, we know thousands of drivers for companies like Uber and Lyft need appropriate protection. Guided by the leadership of the Governor and Legislature, MAPFRE is proud to be among the first carriers in the Commonwealth to offer an auto insurance endorsement that will help close a potential gap in the coverage available for Transportation Network Company drivers without appropriate coverage. We encourage our customers and agents to discuss this new coverage feature with customers who are active ridesharers.”

With this announcement, MAPFRE  becomes a top 3  insurer in California to offer this type of gap coverage to drivers of rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft.

MAPFRE made the formal announcement of this new coverage following the implementation of  legislation with respect to the type of coverage rideshare companies and drivers must carry for vehicles used in this capacity. According to Mapfre, the new endorsement “…offers critical coverage to drivers when they turn on a rideshare app and provides protection until they accept a passenger request.”

Car maintenance tips to avoid accidents

Maintenance tips to prevent accidents
To ensure a poorly maintained vehicle doesn’t contribute to an accident, our carrier partner, National General Insurance, put together a few ways you can keep your cars in top condition. Feel free to share this information with your loved ones!

Tires
According to the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration, 9% of all car crashes in the United States were preceded by some sort of issue with the tires of the vehicle (e.g. tread separation, under-inflation, or blowouts). Properly maintained tires improve gas mileage, stopping ability and handling of the vehicle.

Check the air pressure in your tires (including the spare) at least once a month. This will also give you the chance to check for cracks in the sidewall and the amount of tread on the tires. Rotate your tires every 6,000 miles, or as often as the vehicle’s manufacturer recommends. A periodic alignment of the tires will ensure even wear and extend the life of your tires. Check your owner’s manual for specific information about tire pressure, rotation and alignment.

Brakes
Fewer accidents are completely attributed to failure or degradation of brakes than tires, but poorly maintained brakes still contribute to thousands of accidents every year. When brake pads wear down too far, they can damage the rotors, leading to costly repairs and possible brake failure. Inspect the pads and rotors for wear annually. Take your vehicle in for repairs if you start hearing squeaking or scraping, your vehicle veers to one side or the brake pedal pulses when braking. These are signs of worn brakes and will lead to diminished braking capability.

Windows and lights
Clear visibility gives you the extra time needed to react in an emergency situation. Keep your windows (both inside and outside), mirrors and lights clear of obstructions and as clean as possible. Try to walk around your car once a month to check that all of your lights still work. You should also change your wiper blades every six months, earlier if they begin streaking. If you are having trouble seeing the road at night, there is a possibility that your headlights are out of alignment. Luckily, this is generally a cheap and easy fix.

Fluids
A fluid leak can cause the steering wheel or brakes to stop working or even cause the entire engine to suddenly lock up or overheat. Check the following fluids to keep a vehicle running smoothly and prevent an unexpected mechanical failure while on the road:

  • Engine Oil – Check once a month – Contrary to popular belief, most modern vehicles don’t require an oil change every 3,000 miles. Check the owner’s manual for the recommended frequency. Because oil lubricates all of the moving parts of the engine, if not changed at the recommended interval, the engine could seize and cause catastrophic damage.
  • Brake Fluid – Check during oil change – Typically needs to be changed every two years. If there is a sudden drop in brake fluid levels from a leak, the brakes will no longer work. If unchanged for a long period of time, the entire braking system could be damaged from rust, overheating or corrosion.
  • Power Steering Fluid – Check once a month – Check the owner’s manual, but most models do not require power steering fluid be replaced, but a leak can cause the steering wheel to stop responding.
  • Coolant – Check twice a year – Generally needs to be changed every two to three years. Coolant keeps a car from overheating during the warmer months and freezing during the colder months. Never check coolant levels when the engine is hot.
  • Transmission Fluid – Check once a month – Transmission fluid should be changed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. Transmission fluid will only be low if there is a leak and should be taken to a mechanic immediately if low in order to prevent damage to the transmission.

In addition to preventing potential accidents, routine maintenance will save thousands in expensive repairs. If your are ever involved in an accident, TCS Insurance’s team will guide you through the entire claim process and help get you back on the road as soon as possible.
