I am proud to share the story behind “Tracy’s newest mural”, located on the south side of our corporate office at 1015 N Central Ave (10th & Central), Downtown Tracy.
The project began with a desire from our CFO, Karina, to pay homage to Our Lady of Guadalupe for blessing our family after a period of challenging, life-changing obstacles. At the same time, we wanted a beautiful reminder of our heritage.
We found the perfect artist through a chance conversation during a power walk with our neighbors at Tenth Street Barber Co, Francisco “Kora” Larios and Greg Solario. They asked if we had plans for our wall, which led to an introduction to Adrian Delgado from Green Avenue Tattoo in Miami, Florida. Adrian, a world-renowned artist and West High graduate, happened to be in town visiting his parents. He shared our vision and had always dreamed of returning to his hometown to showcase his skills.
Karina and I each had specific visions for the piece. My request was to highlight Tracy’s inclusiveness—a community that has embraced us since day one. We hope this art attracts visitors to Downtown Tracy, inviting anyone who loves art and culture to come for photos and stay to enjoy our city. Karina envisioned a design that tastefully highlights our culture. Together with Adrian, we achieved both goals.
Our mural features agave representing Karina’s home state of Jalisco, monarchs representing my home state of Michoacán and our four children, papel picado used in many important celebrations, Día de los Muertos, and nods to our Mayan and Aztec roots—all surrounding Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Today, the mural has already been featured in publications like Street Low Magazine and on various social media channels, including Tracy PD’s officer recognitions. It is the first of its kind in Tracy, but it will not be the last. Through this contribution, we hope to spark a new Downtown Tracy Art District that helps our downtown prosper for decades to come.
